Aside from
compressing an entire table, MySQL does not have a solution for per-field, transparent, on-the-fly compression. We have
experimented with a custom module that enables transparent compression/decompression capabilites inline
with INSERT,
UPDATE, and SELECT clauses utilizing the very fast LZO compression library. |

Written
for Apache 1.3.x, this project demonstrates a custom Apache Module designed to help obfuscate web
content form select visitors. This is more than just an access restriction concept, instead this allows web
administrators to block visitors without making it obvious they're being blocked. |
